your challenge…
As Communication Advisor you will work on the (inter)national positioning of War Child Holland (WCH) and its methodology. You safeguard the identity of the organisation in external communication, brand and reputation. You are responsible for the development of the communication strategies and plans (incl. those for (institutional) donors in general and specific grants) and ensure their implementation. You support the War Child Sweden & Germany office and advise on the exploration of other new fundraising markets in Europe from a brand and communications perspective.

tasks & responsibilities…
> Develop and execute communication strategy
> Develop and execute communication strategy and plans for donors in general and specific grants
> Develop guidelines and formats, enabling strategy implementation
> Coordinate and implement translation of corporate communication strategy to a country communication working plan
> Monitor communication activities worldwide and act as a first point of reference for countries on questions regarding the use of communication means
> Carry co-responsibility for editorial checks on all online and offline communication messages
> Maintain close working relationships with external parties (designers, printers, etc.) and ensure adequate briefings
> Sparring partner for communication officers in our programme countries and War Child Sweden office.

your profile…
> Master degree in Communication, Journalism, Development Studies, Internationale Relations, Anthropology or Social Geography
> At least 5 years of experience as Communication Advisor in an international NGO (experience with positioning is an added value)
> Extensive knowledge of international development related communication
> Knowledge of child rights in conflict and (post)conflict environments
> Critical thinker and analytic, strong strategic thinking skills, project management and advisory skills, excellent planning and organisational skills, culturally sensitive.
> Native (or near native) command of English. Dutch language, as well as Spanish or French are a plus
> Available and willing to travel occasionally to (post)conflict countries
> EU resident or in possession of EU working permit.
